Hanoi discovery and visit

Welcome to Hanoi, the millenary city. Start your day at Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, which dominates the Ba Dinh Square, regarded as important point pilgrimage for many Vietnamese. Visit rural style Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house to understand a great man whose life has been very modest. Stop by One Pillar Pagoda, famous for its original construction connected to an interesting legend from the 11th century.
Continue on to the Temple of Literature dedicated to Confucius and his disciples. As you visit the first university of Vietnam, you will understand more the feudal education in Vietnam’s history.

In the afternoon, come to Vietnam Museum of Ethnology: visitors will have a chance to see a wide range of interesting items on display at the museum with clothes, jewelery and items relating to weddings, funeral ceremonies and other spiritual rituals. The exhibition of the 54 communities offering an incomparable glimpse of their history, heritage and cultural identity.

Afterward continue your visit to Hoan Kiem Lake or “Sword Lake” which originated from a legend of a sacred sword. On an islet in the lake, there locates Ngoc Son Temple which is accessible by a classically red painted wooden bridge. Take the walk through the Old Quarter, famous for its ancient streets representing traditional trades from the past.

Finish the day with Water Puppet show, a uniquely northern Vietnamese art form depicting scenes from rural life and episodes of national history.  

Note: The Ho Chi Minh mausoleum is closed on Monday, Friday and every afternoon. The outside is still accessible to visitors.
