Ho Chi Minh City - Nam Cat Tien Park (L,D)
In the morning, we drive for 4 hours from the North of the city to the Nam Cat Tien National Park. The park was established in 1998 and today is divided into two areas, Nam Cat Tien and Cat Loc, which are linked by the Dong Nai River.
These two areas cover 185,000 acres of rainforest that is home to over 600 varieties of plants, 240 types of birds and 50 species of mammals, including the Javan rhinoceros horn, one of the endangered mammals in Vietnam.
However, we should not expect to see them during our walk in the park. For some time, these species were doomed to disappear because of the poachers. Indeed, in the past, the poachers sell the rhino horns with a big sum of money. The existence of this species is still threatened even the development of eco-tourism pushes the protection of nature in the future.
The bodyguards of the park show great pride in preserving these rhinos in Vietnam and continually patrol the areas to identify possible poachers.
We will sleep in an eco-lodge in the park.
